I am a psychotherapist specializing in individual, couple and family therapy, maintaining a private practice with offices in Huntington, NY and Manhattan, NY. I am faculty member, teaching at Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in Manhattan and at Hofstra University on Long Island.
With over twenty years experience in healthcare, I am graduate of Hofstra University specializing in marriage and family therapy, graduate of Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy with certificate degree in Complex Trauma Treatment, Yale University specializing in public health and epidemiology, and Iasi School of Medicine, with a degree in general medicine. I am currently working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among my areas of expertise are specific psychotherapy models including EMDR, IFS, sensorimotor psychotherapy, family and couple therapy models including Gottman therapy, structural and CBT, as well as DBT and mindfulness based therapeutic interventions.
My research and clinical work has been presented at national and international conferences, on topics including genetics of depression and bipolar disorder, geriatric psychiatry, family therapy, dialectical behavioral psychotherapy, mindfulness and complex trauma treatment. I have numerous publications in peer reviewed medical journals.
Holding an academic position at Hofstra University and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, I supervise the clinical work of graduate and postgraduate students. I have developed and teach courses on mindfulness in complex trauma, vicarious trauma, CBT for couples and families, and complex trauma treatment in families.
I am an interactive and empathic therapist. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, providing support and practical feedback, and helping clients effectively address personal life challenges or psychopathology needs. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each person, couple or family. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual, couple, and family to help build on strengths and attain the growth each person is committed to accomplishing.
